Wednesday 6th July 2008 I’m a little behind on these blog entries… So here is a summary of the last few weeks.
I spent a wonderful weekend on the Isle of Wight for a friend’s birthday. The weather was perfect and it had been a very long time since I had lounged on the beach. Lunch was a beach BBQ cooked by yours truly on a couple of the disposable foil BBQs. They were surprisingly good. The following weekend was spent over in Oxfordshire, again in glorious sunshine, at The CLA Game Fair hosted at Blenheim Palace. Check out my comments on the day. Last week was dinner at Shepherd’s with a group of European colleagues. This is a fantastic little place. Great service, and the food is simple and traditional. Located in the heart of politics you can just imagine the mix of spies and politicians huddled in the dining booths at lunch time. This week I’ve been cooking for friends: Lamb shank, slow roasted in balsamic vinegar and red wine, with creamy mashed potatoes; lavender panacotta; Pan fried salmon with Cesar salad; and a roast topside of beef. I’m frantically working on my book to get it out for Christmas. There’ll be more on that in the next few weeks… |
